Athena Warrior Fitness Philosophy and Training Techniques

Athena Warrior Fitness is dedicated to providing the most appropriate exercises and techniques within functional training, corrective exercise, and fitness nutrition in an effort to help each guest achieve his/her fitness goal. AWF Certified Personal Trainers provide expertise on stretching and mobility, proper form and body mechanics in speed and agility and strength training while treating muscle imbalances through corrective exercise. AWF also provides services on fitness nutrition and tools to better understand using food as medicine and properly fueling your body.

Functional Fitness

Functional Fitness is movement based training designed to prepare your body to handle real-life situations. Whether that is improving your overall health and wellness, moving furniture with ease, hiking with efficiency, or being able to walk more briskly. Functional fitness training is intended to help you live better! Functional fitness training focuses upon using body weight, gravity, agility and balance to build a body capable of doing real-life activities in real-life positions.

What can a Corrective Exercise Specialist do for me?

Corrective Exercise Specialist’s (CES) can help people prevent injuries and recover more quickly from injury or range and mobility impairment. A CES understands how to deliver safe and consistent results to guests who are suffering from movement impairment syndrome.

What is a Fitness Nutrition Specialist?

A Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) can teach you how to interpret labels, select appropriate portion sizes, and eat healthy. We can help you learn the tools in how to understand energy balance, caloric needs, activity, metabolism, and food choices that ultimately will help impact your fitness goals. The FNS can also aid in weeding through the overwhelming nutritional information on the market to provide you with valuable handout materials, menu planners, and online materials to help to become more successful.

In addition to the physical fitness component of AWF we also believe it to be just as important to train the mental fitness as well. The power of a positive mind and striving to challenge oneself with progressions is important in working through the process of achieving goals. The fitness journey can be a challenging and very vulnerable process and our Certified Personal Trainers (CPT) are dedicated to your success.

AWF specializes in personal training through private sessions, small group private
sessions, or small group classes. In an effort to ensure that all individuals receive the best training possible class sizes are kept to a maximum of 10 (depending upon the class). On average class sizes range from 6-8 people.

Meet Megan Eckenrode

Megan Eckenrode, owner and founder of Athena Warrior Fitness is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, (NASM). Megan also holds specialized certifications in both Corrective Exercise and Fitness Nutrition through NASM.  She utilizes her knowledge of body mechanics, corrective exercises specific to clients individual needs, functional training techniques, balance and stabilization training and injury prevention to design highly specified and effective workouts to help clients achieve their specific goals, from weight loss to increased quickness, agility and speed, in a focused environment.

After many successful years of playing and coaching collegiate-level field hockey and lacrosse, Megan turned her focus to helping individuals find their inner athlete, and lead their healthiest lives possible; through the way they eat, train and the choices they make daily.  Megan believes fitness is as much what you can achieve physically as it is tuning into your own mental and emotional well-being.  Megan’s goal is to help her clients become Athena Warrior Athletes. This is to help clients believe and feel their own power through strength and movement. It is Megan’s personal goal to become an industry leader in personal training and health and wellness for real women. To Megan, what defines a real woman is the girl that strives to be the best “me” they can be. The woman that works hard, plays hard, and believes she deserves to be an athlete. The moms. The grandmothers. The daughters. The sisters. The women that believes they’re worth it and fight for it. Those are the Athena Warrior Athletes.

When Megan is not “working” at Athena Warrior Fitness, you can find her spending time with her friends and family, running, biking, playing competitive field hockey and training for triathlons.  Megan finds peace and serenity in the outdoors and enjoys hiking and outdoor running.
